Black walnut has many uses, from being strongly anti-parasitic and anti-fungal (ringworm and candida are no match), to containing the greatest inland source of Iodine.  
It has also been used for iodine deficiency related thyroid issues and as protection against radiation poisoning, according to work done by Dr. Richard Shulze.
